Re: Viking Engine

This is not a positive development. I'm afraid jan is getting distracted trying to prove his engine in too many designs. An amphib pusher? Why not a few more zenith or at least one sonex? Prove your design in a few popular designs, and do it more than once. What ever happened to the rv12?

It was much quieter than I expected. Of course, I didn't get it much above idle.
Its no louder than my C150 (O200) was or the Gobash (Rotax 912) I fly now. And both of those have mufflers.

Re: Videos...Post them here...!

Hey, congrats on the first start! That looks great! Looks a little cold there too... Question for you...I noticed you have a crush plate on the front of your prop...do you have some kind of spinner planned? Are you going to use the stock Sonex part? You guys don't miss anything! The crush pla...

Re: Brake choice

I switched to nose dragger. But I had a C150 with direct steer nose wheel, and locking one main wheel would allow you to pirouette around on the ramp if you pull full elevator. Albeit not as elegant as a Citabria. I assume the Sonex will behave similar to the C150. I currently fly Diamond DA20s and ...

Re: Brake choice

The differential hand brake I installed is just two levers side by side. I don't intend to use them differentially at any speed, just to maneuver in tight spaces on the ramp. I may switch over to toe brakes if I see an elegant design for the sonex.

Re: Brake choice

I installed the great plains discs. I wanted differential brakes. They fit pretty good but do require some fabrication. I also installed dual hand operated master cylinders in the center just on front of the spar tunnel.

Re: Viking Engine

Interesting development. Got a call from Viking last week asking for another deposit for an April shipment. I told the lady that I wasn't going to go with the Viking and would like my deposit back. She said that she could make that happen. So far, I guess I haven't lost my deposit. Yet. Looks like s...
