Re: Motor mount shims

I had to shim both top and bottom a bit. I think its just variations in all the different components coming together. Check with Kerry but I think you are within specs.

Re: Prop choice

Which do you think would have better climb performance for a Jabiru 3300, Prince or Sensenich. All are 54 inches diameter (those sold through Sonex). Prince has a 60 inch pitch. Sensenich Wood has a 62 inch pitch. Sensenich Glass has a 64 inch pitch. If I recall my RC days correctly, the finer the p...

Re: Viking Engine

The Onex is an interesting turn. I sat in the original Onex last spring. It was remarked to be a bit tail heavy and the heavier Viking might work well. Also, the Onex has a flat firewall and no fuel tray issue. But the width might be an issue. The Aerovee valve covers stuck out of the sides of the c...

Re: Fuses on Panel?

I flipped back and forth between fuses and breakers, and after talking to an RV buddy, he convinced me to go with breakers. Re: Pre-assembled Main Spar

Oh and for bucking bars? I already had a set of autobody dollies that work great for bucking bars. Again HF, probably $10.

Re: Pre-assembled Main Spar

I already had a cheap HF pnuematic air hammer ($20) that came with various chisels and tips. I bought a rivet tip from ACS ($6) and drove a couple dozen practice rivets to figure out the correct pressure and technique. I can now confidently drive a solid rivet as well or better than the hand method....

Re: Viking Engine

Anyone notice Jan said on his web forum that the first Sonex installs will go out in Dec?
He told me that 2 Sonex engines had already shipped to Thailand back in August.
Anyone heard anything different?

Re: Viking Engine

There will be no confidence in the Sonex/Viking installation until the R+D department have successfully flown one.
