Mike, Talk to Joe. I'm pretty sure he is just looking for a normal compression test not a leak down test if I remember correctly. The point of it is just to set a relative baseline for your particular engine so you can see how it is doing during each annual. It isn't in the checklist to meet a cert...

One of the DAR checklists I have says to have engine compression test information available. I don't recall seeing any suggestion from Sonex about doing a compression check except at the annual condition inspection. I also don't own, nor know anyone who does, the equipment to do so. Sonex in South Africa?

I'm going to be in South Africa from Jan 22 thru Feb 1. I'll be in Cape Town Thurs/Fri/Sat this week. After that we fly to Johannesburg for a couple of safaris, then I fly home. I thought about screws for the horizontal attachments, but I really didn't want to tap that many holes! Plus, as my riveting showed, it's not easy to get everything to align the way it's supposed to, so chances are I would have stipped some of the tapped holes. I did use long machine screws and lock...

Personally I have not had any luck sanding out scratches. Just makes things worse. Nuvite says their polish "lays over" the grain of the aluminum, rather than removing material. So sanding removes the grain and there is no longer material to "lay over" with the polish. As for the...

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try the K&N E-3120 since that seems to be working for most everyone. It was only $27 on Amazon with free shipping.
