Re: Aerovee one EGT high

Robert, I had considered getting some hex shaped flow straightener material and CNCing a circle out of it. I'm not sure if straight is the answer, or just crooked enough to steer the fuel. Do all the cylinders hit peak EGT around the same time when you pull it back from full rich? Definitely not. Th...

Re: Aerovee one EGT high

So, some results to report. I ran out of time to test it last night due to thunderstorms. Got up early for a test flight, in the configuration pictured above. In that picture the flow is going clockwise a little from the perspective of looking into the elbow. The top tab in the picture is bent to th...

Re: Cotton Waiex 191 - N191YX

Our biggest passenger yet - 6' 4" and 220 lbs. Within our demonstrated W&B envelope of course. I could not have taken him due to weight but this is Adam's buddy anyway. They are out flying as I write this.

Re: Considering The Value of a Sonex - Jabiru Gen 4 or not?

I guess the other question is - are you flying it or selling it? If you are flying it and don't want to work on it, spend the money and get personal value out of it.

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

60 hours is good. Burning up some hours in PA before you leave is really sensible. Things to be aware of, at least based on my experience: 1) oil will leak and come out the breather. More RPM means more oil coming out. Find your happy RPM and know what to expect for fuel burn and oil usage. 2) My Ae...

Re: Electrical Failure

Hey pvs, welcome to the forum. You don't say what engine you have but I'm thinking AeroVee is a good guess. There is not much to the electrical system. You need good magnets, a good stator, a good voltage regulator, and it needs to be hooked up. When I was troubleshooting I first checked the open lo...

Re: Aerovee one EGT high

Test flight - 1415 in climb until I got to 3000' MSL or so. Awesome RPM, over 3200. At 90kts was almost 3300, but the EGT went to 1430. Way better than before. I'm not done but on the right track I think.

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

Congrats! I'd have to get it approved by the war department but may be able to put you up at C77 if you need a stop. There may be others who would do the same. Even at 100kts it beats driving a uhaul.
