Re: Cotton Waiex 191 - N191YX

Adam has some heavier friends and had to get a C172 checkout to take them. 220lbs is about the maximum at his weight!

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

I think what is common is a strobe on each wingtip, and of course red/green nav lights there too. My nav lights also have an aft-facing white nav light. It might be that a connection has failed to the left strobe. My nav lights draw about an amp, and the strobes the same. I only run the nav lights i...

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

The primary ignition uses no electrical power. It's basically a Briggs & Stratton type magneto. The ipad will use 1-2A at 5V, which ends up being 0.5-less than an amp at 14.5. We do it all the time. Not sure what Darick has for lights. If he has a conventional master contactor that's about an am...

Re: Aerovee one EGT high

Robert, I had considered getting some hex shaped flow straightener material and CNCing a circle out of it. I'm not sure if straight is the answer, or just crooked enough to steer the fuel. Do all the cylinders hit peak EGT around the same time when you pull it back from full rich? Definitely not. Th...

Re: Aerovee one EGT high

So, some results to report. I ran out of time to test it last night due to thunderstorms. Got up early for a test flight, in the configuration pictured above. In that picture the flow is going clockwise a little from the perspective of looking into the elbow. The top tab in the picture is bent to th...

Re: Cotton Waiex 191 - N191YX

Our biggest passenger yet - 6' 4" and 220 lbs. Within our demonstrated W&B envelope of course. I could not have taken him due to weight but this is Adam's buddy anyway. They are out flying as I write this.

Re: Considering The Value of a Sonex - Jabiru Gen 4 or not?

I guess the other question is - are you flying it or selling it? If you are flying it and don't want to work on it, spend the money and get personal value out of it.
