Re: Aerovee one EGT high

When I did the cold air intake on the R2300 using a Rotec MKII carb, Rotec cautioned about elbos near the carb. There were none but but I did go ahead and make a flow straightener to dampen any intake air swirl. Perhaps something like this might be helpful. So here is my shot at it. I figure my fre...

Here it's half installed.

Left rear EGT still went thermonuclear. So I blocked off the original inlet and tried again.

Showed improvement, but still 1440 at WOT and full rich.

Re: OneX 0153 First flight

I was wondering if the timing needs adjustment. I thought that I might be too lean, but from what you guys are saying, sounds like too rich. I'll continue to tune and will go to #2 needle if I can't get there. N153TD First Flight.png So you have the #2.5? I would really recommend the #2. My first c...

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

That's great, Bryan. Thanks for that. Even having not known Darick, I must admit to getting a bit choked up reading through his build journal. His attention to detail and attitude were apparent, and I'm so sorry he's not still flying N417DG. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Sonex to...

Re: OneX 0153 First flight

I've flown several AeroVees and they all idle very rich. No matter how much I tune them, I cant seem to get it really better. Ive become accustomed to it. I lean for taxi and it helps a lot. If it isn't leaned, it stumbles as it accelerates. I've only flown 1. We have a #2 needle. My AeroVee runs g...

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

Sadly we have lost Darick. https://www.yorkdispatch.com/obituaries/mpa087606 I've never met him in person or seen his airplane but I'd be inclined to think it is a good one. Edit: the photos in the middle of his build thread are missing. Thanks to the photobucket/postimage debacle. But in the beginn...
