Re: New Memebr Consider a Build...lots of questions.

Hello James, Welcome! You raise some excellent questions and I'm sure you'll receive many answers, so best of luck in your decisions! I'd be happy to offer my own two cents but please take them as my opinion only! Given your criteria, it sounds like a Onex would be the way to go for you. If you want...

Re: Interior lights

I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences flying with an MGL panel at night. I have a iEFIS Explorer and the screen is too bright to fly with in the dark. It's blinding and washes out the outside view. Of course that is with the 'night' brightness setting. With the normal day setting my...

Re: Interior lights

Let us know what you think Bryan. I have yet to fly my Waiex at night but I think the time has come to perform some night testing later this fall and see how it goes. I love night flying and would like to expand into that phase soon, but I do need some form of interior cockpit lights to make it safe...

Re: Airventure 2023

All - I realize that I'm late to the party, but is there going to be any attempt at a "Camp Sonex" this year? I would love to finally meet folks in person and camp with similar-minded builders! Thanks, --Noel Sonex #1339 (finally flying!) Another question for the camp Sonex veterans: do y...

Re: Metal and Rivet prep for paint question?

Thanks Bryan! I’m planning on using that exact same product. Everyone I’ve talked to who has used that has been very happy with the results!

Thanks!!

Metal and Rivet prep for paint question?

Hello Everyone, Later this spring I’m planning on painting my Waiex with a single stage polyurethane to protect the aluminum from corrosion I’m finding. For those who have painted their airplanes, I’m curious what you all have done to prep the aluminum for paint. I have a plan for the aluminum in ge...

Re: My quick comparison - Prince climb prop vs Sensenich

Unfortunately, this is a perfect example of each FSDO and each POI having their own thoughts on what constitutes a “major change”. Not that I want to muddy the water, but just to throw in a humorous frame of reference, when I added the turbo to my AeroVee all those years ago, the inspector at my loc...

Re: My quick comparison - Prince climb prop vs Sensenich

Glad you’re back in the air Bryan! It looks like both props are fairly closely matched overall.

I know this is subjective, but do you think one is smoother than the other?

Hopefully you’re still on track for the Tennessee trip!

Re: Crosswind and 3 point takeoffs

We had 8-9 kts more or less direct crosswind today. Much more control margins as compared to rolling on the mains. I have found some luck on crosswind landings by landing flaps up but still landing in a 3 point attitude. The only difference is you need to be below glide slope on final approach as y...
