Re: pitot and static location

Is the static "port" just vented into the cockpit? Yes. I have my mode C encoder and my MFD tied together, and have a restrictor where it vents to the cabin. Now i wonder if I should install it on the vertical stabilizer. I think it looks cool on the Waiex. Might look weird on a conventio...

Re: pitot and static location

Our altitude seems off from what ATC says we are at. That could be an issue with our MFD. I'm not sure. I think we used 1/4" OD nylaflow tubing from Spruce. We chose the tail mounted pitot for 3 reasons: 1) I thought Kip's setup looked cool 2) I thought the pitot probe under the wing could be p...

Re: pitot and static location

So...8 years later, any issues with the pitot tube on the tail? I am considering this because I like that it is up off the ground, but it seems like it could be an eye poker, especially for kids. I like my tail mounted pitot probe. I'm not sure I have great static pressure in the cabin though. At f...

Re: When to polish?

After a year and a half of flying, Adam did some post-build polishing for the first time. So we have about 230 hours of flying and 5 hours of polishing. Doesn't seem too bad.

Also, weight is the enemy.

Re: Sonex Kit & Info

I suspect that is a less common thing now. Most plans are probably sold with kits these days.

If plans are still $600, and the transfer fee is $200, that makes $400 the break even point. Are you going to scratch build?

Re: Greetings from Central Arkansas

Hey Brandon! Welcome to the gang. Having a new kit on order is an exciting thing and beware the risk of dying from impatience. I think we almost lost BobDz from that, but he seems to be pulling through.

Re: Funky Exhaust Stack

They are stainless. You can clean that up. I'd pressurize it with a shop vac and use soapy water to check for a leak. Any good welder could fix that.
