Re: The big AeroCarb/AeroInjector thread

The K&N is a cleanable filter, so you have to put the red oil media back on the filter material after cleaning. I'm sure you know that but it never hurts to state the obvious :-) I have the K&N and have never seen any evidence of dirt getting to the engine. There is far more carbon and lead ...

Re: Batteries at Oshkosh

The company line:

Certainly sounds attractive, other than the price. Almost 4 times the cost of the Odyssey.

Aerobatics without inverted systems

I found this nice little article about inverted aerobatics when you don't have inverted fuel and oil systems:

Re: Safety Concerns

David, For me one of my biggest concerns is this. I can not reach my fuel shutoff valve in the stock location without loosening my seatbelts. I can do both fairly quick, but? Its not the ideal layout in forcing one to do more procedures in a critical time. I'm going to look at my arraignment and se...

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Variation

Unless you're running fuel injection with GAMI injectors you are going to have a hard time tuning cylinders to match. You're absolutely right Mike, although there is one more option that really balances EGT and CHTs; add the turbo! Adding forced induction virtually eliminates any intake system limi...

Re: Cylinder Head Temp Variation

My #1 cylinder (left rear) is always about 30 deg hotter than the #2, and the EGT is also always hotter. If it were simply an air cooling issue then the EGT would be similar to the other cylinders. After spending a lot of time working on my AV, and rebuilding once, I'm personally absolutely convince...

Re: Safety Concerns

Josh, A disproportionate number of fatal accidents have come from engine failures, either for unknown reasons or from the fuel system. Agreed. The Sonex airframe is a damn TANK! You'd have to work awfully hard to damage the airframe. Engines are almost entirely the source of accidents in the Sonex ...

Chen Shin tires discontinued

Just an FYI, Wicks says the 6-ply Chen Shin tires are being discontinued from the manufacturer. I believe those are the ones called for on the Sonex plans.

The 8-ply are still available.

Re: Ground block part number

This maybe what your thinking of, the bolts go thru the firewall and you have a ground block on both sides. http://www.bandc.aero/groundblock2424-tabfirewallkit.aspx That's what I have all my grounds going to, but I think the original question was about a ground connection to attach to at the wingt...
