Re: bearing races on Azusa wheels?

My spacers arrived today, and I pulled the wheels to finish driving the races in. The outer races were already bottomed out due to tightening the nut the other day, but the inside races weren't able to push in due to the fact that the brake disc bottomed out the pistons/pucks in the caliper. With t...

Re: bearing races on Azusa wheels?

Make sure the races are completely seated into the hubs. There should zero gap on the back side of the race. I used a large socket and tapped mine home with a small hammer. They change pitch when they get fully seated. You could use a press, but you won't get that ring when you get them seated. Me,...

Re: Does your seat stretch and if so, does it matter?

I just tell people to stand on the upholstery to get in :-) My only caution is don't grab anything plastic (ie - the windscreen or canopy).

Re: Sonex lights and wire choice

If I can't get confirmation that I will get approval to fly at night with non-TSO lights

Then I apologize for being long winded! :-) I was responding to your last comment.

Re: Sonex lights and wire choice

There is no "approval" for flying at night. Legally they must be TSO'd to fly at night. That point has been argued numerous times on and off this forum, and every official source points out that the FARs DO require lights to be "approved." No manufacturer has any data or testing ...

Re: Does your seat stretch and if so, does it matter?

I made my seat pan out of .032. The .025 just looked way too flimsy. My passengers and I walk all over the upholstery (and seat pan) with no issues.

Re: How do you seal your valve cover bolts

Here is what I used for the valve cover bolts (plumbing washers). I think this size is smaller than what I ended up using. You can see one face if beveled, and the other is flat. I up-drilled the hole for the bolt diameter (actually just a tad smaller). The outside was too large, but after tightenin...

Re: How do you seal your valve cover bolts

Keith: My covers are like yours. I bought some oversized black plumbing washers at the local hardware store. The kind that are very stiff, and not nearly as soft and pliable as o-rings. They also have a tapered face on one side. I never found any that were the right diameter inside and out, so I use...

Re: Hang gliders to sailboats and back

You might try changing the subject line if you want some input on the Xenos. Proportionately there are not that many out there, so you need to grab their attention.
