That sounds similar to my experience. I had to go around twice! I got it on cockpit video, too. In my case it was the lowest, tightest approach I'd ever made (scared me a bit) but it was my best landing of the trip.

I used a 6" Van's Aircraft wheel in a bracket made by Kipp Laurie. Much better ground clearance and much quieter. IMHO there is just no reason to stick with the little 4" wheel. There is no up side to it.
