Re: Body fillers

An old thread, but I would like to troll again for filler opinions. I am polishing but the fiberglass parts will need some fill. NAPA or West Systems? Or something else?

Re: Rattle can

A couple more questions for the rattle-canners:
1) krylon seems to be the popular choice. Why not some other brand?
2) how many cans?
3) prep - did you prime at all, or just bondo-scratch-squirt?

Re: Roll rate

For the acro ailerons I timed 2.83 seconds and for the regular ailerons 4.2 seconds. That is 127 vs 85 degrees per second. Those measurements are somewhat rough.

Rattle can

Hey all,
I have seen a couple references to rattle can Krylon paint jobs, especially on minimally painted airplanes. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I will only be painting the fiberglass parts and it seems viable, though the cowl is sort of a big part.

Line drawing

I have made up a cheesy line drawing in word and converted it to .jpg. Can be used with microsoft paint to consider color schemes on your taildragger waiex. Here it is.

Re: Training kids to build

Soon it will change from slowing down for instruction, to speeding up from the extra manpower. I am over the hump, though my son is far from autonomous at building (at the moment anyway). We are building faster together than I could build solo. It is very satisfying as a father. It was also good whe...

Re: Cotton Waiex 191 - N191YX

The stabilizers are wrapped in old t shirts and stored under the workbench. We have started on the ruddervators. I saw this idea for drilling the hinges somewhere.

Re: Roll rate

Looks like about 120 degrees per second, or a little better. Pretty good! What do the stock ailerons do?
