Flush rivets for tail ribs at the root end

Hi all,
I dimpled my aft spar channels, but when I went to dimple the mating holes in the aft part of the ribs they were too close to the radius. Looks like I will have to grind one of my dimple dies.

Mike,
I have never seen machine screws used with tinnermans. The 140 used them extensively but always with sheet metal screws.

I was going to put headset jacks in the back for the 140. You would plug them in before you sat down and hang them up in the back.

I have had one break proud out of 90. The proud one was a flush rivet in a piece of scrap. Have they changed again? Mine don't rattle either.

Here is another one: do not locate the WIX-T11-05 clip by lining it up with the forward spar if you have prepunched holes. Cleco the skeleton together, cleco on the skins, then transfer the hole from the hockey stick/ forward spar to the -05 clip. I need a shim now.

Mike,
Excellent summary, well written. I had forgotten to mention light sport. Though I hope to build and fly other airplanes other than the Waiex, that is the airplane that I will likely finish in someday, hopefully well in the future.

Found my answer: About 2 years ago AVEX changed some dimensions on their rivets, making the head bigger. We changed the 120 degree dimple dies from the old dimensions (smaller / thinner rivet head) to the newer larger / thicker rivet head at that time. You will need the newer version dimple dies for...

Hi all, I looked up the spec on the CCC flush rivets called out for my aft spar. It looks like they are 120 degree heads, same as avex. Is this right? I pulled a couple in scrap, one with a regular 100 degree dimple and one with a 120 and neither fit great compared to a dimpled solid rivet. Basicall...

If XC and kids factor in heavily, maybe a 170/172 is a better choice. I would have gone that route if my wife liked to fly. It is a good XC and family aircraft.
