Re: Nav/Strobe Lights

Thanks for the clarification Mike; I'll have to dig out the specs I received from AeroLED and bump it with the requirements. Pretty sure I will be ok. I think I'll start hitting up the FSDO next time one of the inspectors is in town doing a FAA wings presentation. Never to early to get them "p...

Re: Demo Flight in Sonex

As long as you have a pilot license of some type, per the web site: "The LODA authorizes Sonex Aircraft, LLC to provide training for pilots building, buying or considering a Sonex design. The training is for aircraft familiarization and transition purposes only. Student applicants must already ...

And one of my EGT probes was measuring the inside of my cowl before it got installed. It was running about 130 deg F on average.

Re: Prop Hub Bolt: How to hold crank while tightening?

Gripdana wrote:I did mine when the flywheel was installed and secured the flywheel.

That has to fall into the "why didn't I think of that" category! No reason the bolt has to be set before installing the crank. It can be done after the engine is built. :-)

Re: Prop Hub Bolt: How to hold crank while tightening?

Can't you just put the crank in a vise to hold it while you tighten down the bolt? Most surfaces of the crank are critical wearing surfaces. Would not be a good idea to use a vice. Besides, half the weight of the engine is in the crank. It's heavy! Tough to hold such an animal in the average work b...
