Re: Battery Box for tail dragger problem

Roy, I made the side of mine removable so that it would slide out like this: See the 3 pictures in a row. http://picasaweb.google.com/Sonex1284/Sep252010#5530350984135557106 http://picasaweb.google.com/Sonex1284/10162010#5530352068896932018 Mike #1284 That's what I did, too. Re: Electric Cabin Heat

Mike, Thanks for the post and the pictures. That looks like a clean setup. I look forward to hearing how it actually performs (temp rise of air coming into the cabin and how much air there is--ultimately how much warmer does it get inside the airplane vs no heater). Some questions: - For the valve ...

Re: Electric Cabin Heat

I like the idea of not having to cut a big hole in the firewall and fabricate heat muffs and piping for cabin heat. I installed heat-muff based cabin heat. More time, but not too difficult: http://www.mykitlog.com/users/display_log.php?user=mikesmith&project=698&category=7960&log=160680...

Re: Angle for fuel flow test?

I came up with those numbers talking with other builders and the FAA inspector who did my inspection. (note you don't need fuel flow data for your airworthiness inspection) I actually ended up with a tad under 24deg nose up, and that was more steep than I imagined it would be as seen in the pic bel...

Re: Angle for fuel flow test?

I want to do a fuel flow test with my AeroVee. Does anyone know a good maximum angle to test at? It would be max climb angle. I have a digital level so I can tip up to a set angle. Thanks, Mike Smith I was most interested to hear what angle of climb others had used for testing the flow. This will b...

Re: Machined oil sump plate

If you are planning on using the machined sump plate I would sugest test fitting it to your case before you assemble your engine. The studs on the bottom of my case did not stick out far enough for the nuts to grab when using the thicker machined plate insteaed of the thinner stamped plate. You can...

Frayed cable ends

Any tricks for keeping cable ends from fraying? I have had to remove and reinstall the brake cables a couple of times, and it's always a real trick trying to get a frayed cable through the little hole in the cable fitting.
