Reason #3 is my favorite.

Now i wonder if I should install it on the vertical stabilizer.

And on the other side of the coin...

Is the static "port" just vented into the cockpit?

That seems to be a popular concensus on the RV and SuperCub sites.

Yes. I have my mode C encoder and my MFD tied together, and have a restrictor where it vents to the cabin.

I think it looks cool on the Waiex. Might look weird on a conventional tail. But it would probably work fine, and the fuselage would prevent the eye-poke concern.

I could use a half inch tube, and tell everyone it's 50 cal.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I'm going to copy Kip and Bryan and put it on the tail.

Seems to me this was attempted years ago, maybe by John Monnett, and it was found to not be viable location at higher angles of attack, or............ Been too long to remember any details.

Edit:......or maybe it was a prop wash thing......

" Might look weird on a conventional tail." IMHO The spiked 707 tail looks cool. https://airlinercafe.com/aviation-artic ... ide-84957/

Looking at the 707 and considering the comments regarding prop wash (I'll be running a 64 inch prop) I am considering moving the tube out into the fiberglass tip to keep it out and as high as possible.
