Darick from PA

Hi Folks,
I just received my confirmation of purchase from Sonex for plans #1646, so I'm officially a Sonex owner. I received the tail kit some weeks ago and although the progress has not been fast, it has been rewarding. My log building website is websites.expercraft.com/cdgundy.
I wasn't able to attend the builders weekend so I may have (already have had) a few newbie questions. Looking forward to a very interesting learning experience.

Darrick, welcome. Checked out your site. Here is a tip I picked up at the Sonex builders workshop to make drilling the many hinges you will need: drill #40 holes in your 36 inch aluminum ruler at 1 inch spacing, 1/4 inch from the edge. Then, instead of using a rivet fan to lay out your hinge, just clamp the ruler on top of your hinge, and drill through the hole into a scrap piece of wood. Quick, easy, and accurate.
