I am not near the parts until the end of the week or I would measure them.

TIA,

Rick - see if this helps. Eric Seber wrote it up. I used taper pins in my Sonex and have been happy with the results.

I started to ruin my tailspring mount yesterday installing a #2 taper pin. This is to replace the AN4 bolt the plans call out. I was reaming the hole with a #1 taper pin reamer by hand. I noticed even with the mount in a vice that my hand twisting movement allowed the reamer to take more material from the steel tube than the titanium rod. I was wallowing out the top hole in the tube and soon would have created another part for my scrap pile. I stopped and jigged the tailspring mount in my mini-mill. This worked great by keeping down pressure on the reamer while turning with no unintentional side movement. Results were great Here are a couple of pictures.

When the taper pin is fitted correctly, I cut off the excess with a Dremel tool and cut off wheel.

Somewhere in the community is a taper pin reamer available as a loaner - last I knew it was in the hands of Bryan Cotton, but I think he loaned it to someone.
