plastic on ailerons

I have a white plastic on both ailerons I can't peel it off. I tried heating it but it would just melt. what is the secret on getting this white plastic covering off??

I found the stuff to be a pain, but it does peel off. Trick is getting it started and then taking your time. I never heated mine.

Hi Dan. If you are melting it you are applying way too much heat. You just need enough heat to soften it.

Hi Dan, I know this won't help you, but the real trick to removing it is to take it off a few years ago. It seems to harden with age, but as Steve says, gentle heating will soften it.

And gentle heat can be as simple as just leaving it in the sun while you do your work (if the climate is right).
