Spending Summer Outside Milwaukee

I'm going to be spending 6 weeks in Wisconsin this summer, west of Milwaukee. June 20-August 4 or so, with my Sonex. So looking for some places to fly to for $100 hamburgers or just general fun places to fly to. And of course would love to connect with some fellow Sonex pilots. Suggestions are welcome here, and if you want to contact me via email, mike.smith208@comcast.net.

I'll be at Airventure all week, but not planning to fly my Sonex in this year. I've done it 3 times already, and don't feel the need :-)

Blue skies!

That was supposed to be humor. I'm probably better at building airplanes. I did send Mike a list of airport restaurants and attractions that I'm aware of. Plus the location of the builders I'm aware of.

No worries.
That's what I thought.
I responded in kind.

Janesville and Madison both have good restaurants on the field. If you are looking for a longer flight, Shawano (pronounced "shawn-o") has a great bar and grill across the street from the FBO. I believe the restaurant at Mosinee is open again. There are others too. Here is a link:

Enjoy flying around the Badger State!!

Mike, I would recommend you check out Boscobel KOVS. Very scenic area to fly around with the airport located along the Wisconsin River. The FBO building is very nice and they offer a couple courtesy cars and Ebikes that are free for pilots to use to drive or ride into town a couple miles down the road to grab lunch at one of several local diners. Boscobel also usually has some of the best fuel prices in Wisconsin.

Another popular option for breakfast is Lone Rock KLNR.

Don't even know if they have an airport.........but New Glarus is not to be missed. A little south of Madison me thinks.

Ask for Spotted Cow by name. Fat Squirrel is available in the fall.
