NC Sonex Spring Fly-in. On Saturday May 6, 2017 - Siler City

Postby sonex293 » Tue Mar 28, 2017 6:27 pm

We have settled on a date for the Sixth Annual NC Sonex Spring Fly-in. On Saturday May 6, 2017 we are planning the event this year at Siler city - KSCR. We thought that a change in venue back to Siler City, NC, would be a good idea and give people who had not been to the event an opportunity to see the newly paved runway and another great airport in North Carolina. We would like to extend an invitation to you all to come and join us . Camping is allowed at the airport so if you want to overnight you are welcome. Please mark your calendars and register so that we can get an indication for food, drinks and parking.

The 2017 North Carolina Sonex Spring Fling - May 6nd 2017 (Cinco de Mayo) flyin at Siler city is shaping up to be a nice get together. So far we have 10 planes flying in, with 8 of them being Sonex types. There will be Waiex, Onex and Sonex planes on the ramp for people to look at and ask question.

If you want to take a look at, or sit in, (maybe go for a ride) then you need to come and spend the day with us.

The event this year will be held at Siler city, NC - KSCR. We would like to extend an invitation to you all to come and join us, girlfriends, wives, kids, everyone is welcome. Camping is allowed at the airport so if you want to overnight you are welcome. Please mark your calendars and register so that we can get an indication for food, drinks and parking.

Latest update from Peter....

We are less than a week away from the 2017 North Carolina Sonex Spring Fling - "May 6th 2017 Siler City NC, KSCR" So, check your weather, Looks very good right now. check your aircraft, and check your cars. We are looking forward to a great event.

As of right now we have
14 Sonex's and about 50 folks registered to attend so far. Some folks are going to camp at the airport starting Friday and plan to stay through Sunday.

Karen, the FBO manager has agreed to let us use the FBO facilities, so for all the campers, welcome. Let be sure to leave the facilities better than when we arrived.

Before I forget, we will be putting out some tables for those of you that may want to clean out your hanger and bring all your toys you no longer need. You can swop the parts, sell the part or just give them to folks that could use them. Why hang onto them when there are folks that could put that stuff to good use at a bargain.

I know there are some folks that are out there that are on the fence, come on guys this only happens once a year and we count on you to make this event a success.

Last call to register, and please share the link or the email with folks that I may have missed.

We won't be able to stay too long due to children who don't fit in a two place airplane, but me and the lady who let's me live at her place look forward to taking pictures of other peoples gleaming airplanes in juxtaposition of our poor baby who has been out on the ramp for weeks.

Same here. I would've made it out but getting back would've been dangerous with gusting winds beyond 25 knots here at home.

Wind kept me grounded too. Hate it because this was my first opportunity to get my Sonex to the NC fly-in. Anyone up for a re-try? Doesn't have to be anything formal. Just pick a Saturday, a location, pack a lunch and everyone fly their sonex type birds in for fun and fellowship. Or another thought.....how about picking a Saturday in June and lets converge on BQ1 (Gilliam-McConnell Field) in Carthage NC.......BBQ restaurant is on the field with great food. I'm sure they would love the business. What do you think....anyone up for it?
