Hello everyone,

Everything finally came together yesterday my Onex N170NX had its successful first flight. The Aerovee engine and Onex airframe work great, it flies well and control feel is quick and responsive. Thanks to everyone, especially Michael (XenosN42) for his flight and building expertise, Kerry, and many others whose advice and help made the first flight go exactly as expected!

Congradulations to Peter!

His takeoff and landing were perfect! It was great to finally hear the sound of an AeroVee engine from the ground. Everybody tells me that my engine sounds different from a 'real airplane engine'. And it's really difficult to see a OneX against a clear sky background.

Here's a still of Peter's perfect landing.

Thanks for the pictures, they look great!
I really like the sound of the Aerovee, reminds me of the classic VW beetle if it could fly,
or a Continental/Lycoming aircraft engine if it could spin 1000 rpm faster!

Of course there is one in every crowd :-)

As a side bar ... While I was making my first flight the airport manager came out to watch. Later, while discussing the flight with him, I said "I bet it was hard to find me.". He said "No, the black was easy to pick up against the sky.". I guess dark colors show up as a distinctive dot in the sky on clear days. Bright colors probably show up better on cloudy days.
