I have 12.5 hours on it now. Just finished stall and climb/descent tests. Next is takeoff distance tests. For performance tests I had to fabricate a shelf behind the seat that bridges (see pic) between the lower longerons to support some ballast needed to get up to max gross weight of 950 lbs. Access is by pulling the seat back hinge pin. Ballast is contained in sturdy ocanvas bag.
I have been trying out a iPhone GPS biking app that measures distance traveled in feet to see if I can adapt it to measuring takeoff distance. I suspect it will be accurate within approximately 30’.
My plan has been to fly phase one while weather is good, then paint shop this coming winter.
