Sounds like the radio in the Sonex wasn't working or was on the wrong frequency. Most likely the latter.

I fly out of an airport which is located near many other airports. Often I hear pilots transmitting on the wrong frequency. I always respond and tell them their error and get an appreciative thank you. Would you? Think about it. Wouldn't you want someone to help you out and avoid accidents like this?
