Each year there is a disproportionate number of fatal aviation accidents involving Light Sport, Experimental and Amateur "Home" Built aircraft on their first flight. Lack of a plan and incomplete knowledge about specific aerodynamic characteristics of these aircraft lead to some of these accidents. The most important task for an amateur-builder is to develop a comprehensive FLIGHT TEST PLAN. The object of a FLIGHT TEST PLAN is to determine the aircraft’s controllability throughout all the maneuvers and to detect any hazardous operating characteristics or design features.
