Vinyl Wrap

I would like to wrap my control surface with a simple checkered pattern. Can anyone recommend a vendor where I can order thae product and pattern?

Peter,

John Gillis talked about vinyl wrapping including suppliers on episode 36 of the podcast. That might help get you going in the right direction.

I took my rudder to a local sign shop in MN and they did an excellent wrap of a checkerboard pattern.

My OneX was wrapped by a company located in Slatington, PA which I think is very near you. https://www.idwraps.com/

To do my checkerboard they placed each black square by hand. They are real artists! They can also print a design.

I prepped my instrument panel for painting (roughed it up) before I saw a couple of panels with "the carbon fiber look". Love it!

I'm guessing it's a vinyl overlay. Can anyone tell me if the vinyl products will adhere to anything other than a smooth/shiny surface? I'd really like to have that look, but don't want to polish the panel first.

Or make a carbon fiber overlay. I don't have a picture but I could get one Thursday if you are interested. Easy to make and your bare panel with the holes cut out is the template. I finished mine in March and used water slide decals for labels. Works great.

I made one for my RV-6 and it now is 20 yrs old and still holding up just fine. Some of the decals for ON/OFF on the frequently used switches have rubbed away but after the initial inspection, who cares? Toggle up is on, nobody will forget that.

I've ordered some samples from fellers.com. A 12" x 12" is only $2 or $3. Also ordered VViViD XPO Black Carbon Fiber from Amazon and a 12" x 60" was $10. Small investment to see how it works. It seems to stick well to anything that is clean. No magic about polished surfaces.

That looks great. I'm curious, are the squares 2 x 2?
