Piloted Drill Bit 3/8 x 1/4

Postby racaldwell » Fri Jan 29, 2021 9:34 am

Hello Everybody, Does anyone have a piloted drill bit 3/8" x 1/4" they could loan to me? I need to drill aluminum with existing 1/4" holes and want to keep them concentric.

Thanks, Rick Caldwell

Hi Rick

Will drill bushings work?

I think our tool loan program has either the drill bushings or the drill bit you need.

Hi Robbie,

Bushings will help keep the bit square but I was looking for a piloted bit to stay concentric with the existing 1/4" holes. I can set up on the drill press multiple times as an alternative to using a piloted bit. I was just going for the fast, foolproof method if possible. Pan Am Tools had a min. order of six when I went to buy one this morning.

Thanks, Rick

Hey Rick

Let me dig around and see what I have. My drill bushings did exactly that. Made it so you can center the smaller drill on the larger hole.

I’ll check tomorrow. I know Dale (Bipbuilder) sent me some drill bits recently.

Ok, Sonex Builders. We have a builder in Maryland finishing a legacy Waiex kit and he needs to borrow piloted drill bits.

“1/4 to3/8 and 3/8 to .0375 I think. I’m listening to sonex flight podcast 51”

Who can help him please?
