Of course, I have given thought to it. It's my understanding that EXPERIMENTALS are not allowed east of Bahamian airspace...so far... 8-)

Pitts fuselage arrived today. 435 lb crate for a 52.5 lb fuselage (there were a few other parts and a set of plans thrown in).

Makes a great conversation piece!

I've found that the biggest difference from the Waiex build so far is the lack of a hardware kit. With the Waiex, I could read the plans and reasonably expect to go and find whatever nut or bolt and continue on. The Pitts plans have all of callouts on the plans page but think about it...imagine scouring the Sonex plans pages for the hardware that you'll need then placing and order. How far to you look into future pages? (!)

Good thing Aircraft Spruce is only a 45 minute drive away... :)

Your looking at about 450 hours of work on the wings. I did not weld the fuselage. It's a Pitts S-1D. Quite rare in that it has a flat bottom wing with four ailerons. Most Pitts' have a symmetrical airfoil except for the early ones but they usually had only two ailerons... :P

Looks great Kip...can't wait to see the finished product. How do you like the woodwork....I didn't realize there was so much of it on that plane. I thought scratch building a Sonex took patience, but I think you must have way more than from the looks of all that intricate woodwork.
