Help with Photo Orientation

Postby N21X » Sat May 09, 2020 12:01 pm

Hello,

I am still fairly new at navigating this website. Can anyone tell me why my pics are uploading sideways? Doesn't matter how the photo starts out, they are uploading sideways?! I am utilizing an iPhone 8.

Please help.

N21X,

Pictures on your iPhone include a small bit of code embedded within them that tells the iPhone which way to orient the picture when displaying it. The actual orientation of the picture itself is based on how the camera was held when the picture was captured. Your phone and some computers will read this code and orient the picture properly. However, not all systems will do this automatically, and I suspect the forum software simply displays the picture as-is.

One way around this might be to transfer the pictures to your computer first. These photos can then be rotated to the correct orientation using whatever photo display/editing software you use, then uploaded to the forum post. This should solve the issue.
