Nice progress Scott! You're building mostly solo, right? How did you lift the turtledeck into position? My method started off sloppy but got the job done in the end: http://www.rynoth.com/wordpress/waiex/2 ... eck-cleco/

I like seeing current builder progress as much as past builder progress... a lot of things have changed over the years I think, and those of us building now are probably running into our own unique set of challenges. It's good to share!

Ryan,

Funny you should ask since I was reading your post on "how did you do it?" Yesterday...

Yes mostly working solo, will get help from family if it's a big lifting task, etc. I'm a tall guy and have a pretty wide wingspan...so I ended up rotating the aft f-box on it's side, then grabbing the opposing ends of the turtledeck skin and carefully inserting the aft end in between the rear section of the longeron and skin and working my way up to the front edge. Probably took less than 30-45 seconds. I then carefully bent the skin up and inserted the opposite side in using the same technique. Once done I rotated the whole assembly back upright. Before inserting the turtledeck skin I marked the 1" depth line from the edge so I would know if the skin was in far enough or too far.

Turtle deck and all formers are updrilled to #30 size so it's time to take it apart and deburr. Would like to have this riveted together by the end of the week(end)!

Another productive evening/day. The aft fuselage assembly is now complete! Time to move onto the forward fuselage...

Moving on to the forward fuselage (angle parts) and upper firewall. Page F17 and F18 are both almost done.

The first four of many angles for the forward fuselage.

Your plane is going to look a heck of a lot nicer than mine! Those parts look perfect! Keep up the good and fast work and you'll have the forward fuselage finished in no time!
