Thanks Dale! It was like hiking Mt. Whitney. You can't see the summit and you think the next switch back you will be there and you are not. I feel as if I have reached the summit. Now it is down hill from here.

I did some glass work on the cowl this morning. Then went on a 11 mile hike on the Pacific Crest Trail near my house. Came home and started on the baffle's.

Re: Sonex 1534 Photos-Move to Garage

Postby Gripdana » Sat Jan 24, 2015 8:24 pm

Out of the shop and into the garage. Today I removed the wall on my shop to get my plane out. I am ready to move to the airport next weekend. I do't have any more squares to mark off on the building tree. Although I know there is still a lot to do. Getting to the airport will allow me to start the engine.

Very cool Dana! Looks like your motorcycle can use some elbow room anyway. My poor motorcycles have not run in over 10 years.

Nicely done Dana, that will be a huge milestone making the move to the airport.

What's left on your to do list once you get settled in at the airport? Where will your Sonex be based (I believe you are outside of San Diego?)

I will be at KWJF Wm J. Fox airfield in Lancaster California. I still need to finish paint, apply N number, mount and adjust the wings, hook up nav and landing lights, install pants, cowl, leg fairings, have the transponder certified, swing the compass. Then the fun stuff EAA tech counselor visit and airworthiness inspection. BTW there is an air show on March 20 and 21 if I am done I'll put it on the ramp for that.

Re: Sonex 1534 Photos-Move to Hanger

Postby Gripdana » Sat Jan 31, 2015 8:15 pm

Today I got the fuselage moved to the hanger. My brother was going to help me but he was very sick. So I had to go it alone. I got everything loaded and tied down then made the 25 mile drive to Wm. J. Fox airfield. It took a little over an hour to make the drive going 25 and 30 mph and making stops to check the straps every 5 miles. It is now in the hanger and will get the rest of the shop moved tomorrow and the wings installed.
