Thanks. It is mentioned in the 2 into 1 exhaust instruction sheet. There are no specs so I had to design the shield and make it out of scrap stainless steel left over from the firewall. I did have to remove the rivets in the fuselage and match the holes. I used masking tape over the rivets before I drilled them out and marked the center with a very fine sharpie. Then I put the tape along the rivet line on the shield and drilled the holes. They lined up perfectly. I used tan masking tape that you can kind of see through.

Thanks I wish I could say the same for the cowl. I am struggling with it now.

I went back and worked on the cowl a bit. I found that the relief cut I did worked out after all. The top of the cowl was very high. After taking off the hinge and trimming a little more the top laid right down. I did trim some of the aluminum from the firewall because it was binding. The only thing I can't get flush is the bottom. I did try the left side and the top seems to be a little better fit than the right. I think the right half was out side during shipping and sitting for a year it may have gotten deformed. Here are some photos of my last session. I don't really want to do the top/bottom split mod. Thanks for all the help.

Looks like you are a little long at the firewall. The bottom of the cowl will match the bottom corner of the firewall when enough has been trimmed. On mine I thought the fit at the firewall was good but the bottom halves would not mesh. After trimming the sides and bottom more they pulled together. Take a look at Bob Meyers website he has pix of what im talking about

I got the hinges installed on the cowl this morning. I still need to fill some holes on the right side to be able to do the hinge there. Also have some filling and glass for to do.

Dana,

Looks really good! Persistence always pays off, if you have enough of it.

Now ... that wasn't so bad was it? OK yeah ... it probably was!

Welcome to 2015!
