I went to the Van Nuys FSDO this morning and received my repairmen certificate. It was very easy to do and the inspector on duty was very familiar with the somex and Aerovee. If the weather is good tomorrow I will do the first flight.

Congratulations, the first flight is something few of us get to experience and is never forgotten. I will say get your gear leg fairings and wheel pants on...they improve the cooling a lot while you break in the engine.

Had a great weekend at the Air Show. Fifi did a fly over. Gene Soucy and his wing walker Teresa Skokes did acrobatics. Matt Younkin in his Beech 18 was there. And the Thunderbirds finished the show. The wind was blowing 18kts gusting to 30kts. There were thousands in attendance. The Sonex sure attracts people. Several prospective builders stopped by and talked. I hope to see some more builders and completions here in Southern California.

It was great seeing a Sonex in person for the first time, the workmanship was top notch. The next day my dad and I logged our first 1/2 hour of flight time in a glider in my pursuit of building and flying my own Sonex. I was lucky enough to do some formation ridge soaring, and surprisingly I flew most of the time myself in close proximity to a mountain! Thanks Dana for answering all the questions and giving me some inspirtation/motivation.
