I am done with the splice plates. I am also done deburring the verticals. I had to relieve the fairleads. Like Ryan said, better to rivet the fairlead block on after the verticals are riveted to the skin.

Here is my white board. Running out of stuff to do before riveting. Still have a couple hours of polishing to do. I decided to rivet both lower longerons with AN470AD5's.

We are polishing the tailcone skins. They are not as good as they look in the picture yet. I am using my old flight suit to polish. It is a mess.
Deleted flight suit photo. It was backwards anyway.

We riveted the right side today. Bottom longeron went on with AN470AD5's to recover from my goof where I did not leave the .025" overhang. Adam bucked all the rivets. Then he pulled the rivets for the verticals. I tried to scramble, get a coupler on the second hose and get out the second puller so I could do some too, but he was too fast.

When I was polishing the stabilizers I got complacent and tweaked a corner. Tonight we were polishing the left tailcone side with C and it was Adam's turn. It will tweak back ok. Let this be a warning to all - don't get complacent!

De-tweaked mostly, but will have a little beauty mark.

Bryan, sorry that happened! The good news is I think the stabilator skins will cover most of it up.

This isn't a closeup, but it's older pic I took and you can see where the stabilator skin covers up about the last 6-7 rivets along the top of the side skin.

Thanks Ryan, I think you are right. I don't think it will be too bad. Talk to any homebuilder and there will be mistakes that bug them, but maybe not noticeable to the casual observer. Assuming they are the type to admit their mistakes, that is. Being able to move on is part of the perserverance that will bring the project to flight status. I am okay with it. If it was a safety of flight issue I would be a nut about fixing it.

I'm still losing sleep at night due to a cosmetic dimple I made in the top of my left wing skin. I'm sure that I'll be staring at it every time I look at the wing, for now and forever, even though it will make zero difference in how the thing flies.

Some channel thingys ready to rivet. With the matched holes this goes quick.
