snxT03-02 main horiz spar fitting

Postby sonex1332 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 7:44 pm

Plans say to make from 2.5 in. Angle, trim to 2-29/64, meaning a 3/64 cut. But the end view shows the champhered edge. Is this a CAD interpertation, or do I trim the edge and round it? Thanks in advance - couldn't find anythig on this using the search.

Still slow/scratch building 6 years later.

Here are some pictures of those "spar angles from hell" when I made them, hard to see but I don't think I had a chamfered edge:

Thanks. Looks like you did trim off the 3/32 though. Thats about the width of the kerf on my table saw, so I was worried about blade chatter. Maybe I'll try a router. I'm beginning to suspect this will be a practice piece. Yours turn turned out well!

I did not send the part thru the table saw I used the vixen file. The part will have a small chamfer left after removing the 3/64".

The drawing just shows that when you remove that 3/64" you haven't removed all of the original edge radius. A file will remove 3/64 very easily.
