Is the webinar posted online somewhere? I'd be interested in hearing it.

They said they would post it but I don't see it up on their website yet.

I looked for it too, but the web site's search functionality is a mess.

Just watched it. Pretty good presentation overall. I guess I'm doing everything they decided not to do :-)

In their defense their primary mission is to sell VW engines and airplanes that are "affordable" with modest performance. They also know that most projects die a slow death when it comes time to start spending money and installing the things in front of the firewall. I'm curious if anyone has actually gotten the stated performance numbers from the VW engines. Everything I have watched and read makes them seem like a stretch.

I just measured my longeron angle and it’s 6.7 degrees. I did make stronger gear for my onex, 7075 aluminum by 5/8 inch, and in doing so I also made it about 3 inches taller.

My Onex absolutely gets the performance they advertise. Its a great little flyer. It does 140 mph at 3000 ft and 4 GPH. I weigh 160 and it meets all the performance numbers they have on the website. During Phase 1, I did some landings at 1.1 Vso and could get 500 feet standing on the hydraulic brakes pretty aggressively. However I'm much more comfortable around 70 over the numbers. I usually use around 1000 ft with light braking. I only land at regular airports so this is not really an issue. The shortest place I go is 2600 and I don't have any problem at the midfield turnoff. I don't remember paying as close attention to the takeoff distances but I think 500 is about right. I usually lift the tail ASAP and then leave it on a little longer to lift off around the 70 mark and then let it accelerate to around 90 for the climb. I would like it a little taller on the gear.

This is my 3rd AeroVee. I noticed John mentioned somewhere he builds them to 8.5:1 so I did on this build. I think I'm around 75 hours with oil changes, valve adjustments, and head re-torques.
