Wire Routing...

Postby dboeshaar » Thu Dec 28, 2023 4:13 pm

Any pictures of how to route wiring from tail cone to instrument panel and the battery? Things like tail strobe, transponder antenna, remote radio gear, etc.

What did folks use for the wiring block? Where did you put it?

Once the glare shield is in, is EVERYTHING done on your back? Ouch!

I don't have much in the tail. Just my pitot probe plumbing and coax for my VOR antenna. I used self- adhesive tie wrap points. They route through the tailcone and then along the rudder cables to the nose.

Leave the floor skins off as long as possible. Much easier to work from underneath. I did most of my wiring on the bench. My biggest regret is not figuring out a way to open up or hinge down the panel for maintenance.

I'm not sure what you mean by a wiring block.

I have a Cleanex (Corvair powered taildragger) with the battery in the tail. I have a good bit of wiring from the rear to the front. I ran the wiring under the spar. You can get a glimpse of what I'm talking about at the 2:00 mark in this video:
