Wiring a single wire strobe?

Postby Mike53 » Thu Mar 27, 2014 5:24 pm

Hi all.Looking for a clue as to how I would test a strobe I just purchased from Aircraft Spruce http://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/elpages/fs4400.php.
It has a single wire coming out the base in the literature that I found on-line it claims… 'Self-grounded, single wire connection for quick and easy installation'
Does this mean that all you have to do is connect it to the positive side of the battery and it will work? I tried it and nada. You would think for the price it would at least come with a wiring diagram and some install instructions.
Thanks.

Hi Mike,

The unit needs to grounded in the airframe, the airframe is the second wire back to the battery ground.
If you are testing on the bench you will need a wire to the +ve battery terminal and a wire from the -ve terminal to the unit's case.

Cheers
