Hmm the comment on the bottom made me realize I don't actually know if 100LL is 100 octane AKI. Wikipedia seems to say avgas octane is specified as MON in which case I have no idea what the AKI of 100LL is.

I recently bought a Onex with an AeroVee engine. I talked to the builder, I bought from the 3rd owner, and asked him what compression the engine was built at. He said it was set up for 100LL.

I also own an RV-12 with a Rotax 912. Whenever I put 100LL in it, I add Decalin (TCP).

I am wondering if adding Decalin is the norm for AeroVee engines that use 100LL.

Hauling gas around from gas stations just isn't worth the effort for me so I decided to just put TCP in my avgas. Also the engine guru from Savvy Aviation not too long ago had an article that running your head temps at no less than 350 was good for burning off lead with TCP in the gas. So for now that's my s.o.p.
