Increasing Oil Pressure

Postby N111YX » Mon Apr 14, 2014 4:48 pm

Has anyone adjusted the oil pressure by means of adding or subtracting a washer under the oil filter assembly? I have only heard about the process and it does not seem difficult but I'd like to hear from someone who has done it.

I'm nearing 500 hours of engine time now on my 3300 and the oil pressure will indicate as low as 38 PSI in cruise. It used to be in the mid-forties when it was new.

Thanks,

Kip

I removed, cleaned, inspected and reassembled the pressure relief valve behind the filter when chasing why I was seeing spikes in pressure during cruise (over 100PSI). The problem turned out to be a faulty oil pressure sender. My original sender lasted about 100 hours. I would try that first.

Congrats on the upcoming milestone of 500 hours Kip! You must have one of, if not the highest time Waiexes around! That's very impressive (not to mention all of your trips!).

I wish I could help you on the oil pressure issue, but I have no 3300 knowledge. I can't help but ask out of mere curiousity...what is the acceptable range (green arc if you will) on the 3300's oil pressure? Just curious...

Kip,

Yes, I have. I took out the spring and added a washer the same as you would use on an AN3 bolt if my memory serves me correct?
I was more concerned with low pressure at idle and high temps. Boosted things about 5 lbs.
