Case breather height

Postby rizzz » Sun Jun 29, 2014 4:28 am

I'm going well rebuilding my engine but I've run into something I'm a little concerned about.
I installed the various block-off plates, and the case breather last night, however I'm a little concerned about the height of that breather, I fear it won't fit under the cowling.
You can see it sticks out 2" above the case:

For the Sonex builders out there:
How much room is there under the cowling in that area? Would this breather fit? (It's hard to make out from the plans.)

If not, what are the options? I noticed Great Plains sells a lower profile breather, any others?

That definitely looks too tall. I made one for my engine and I think I made it about 1.5" tall.

Sonex sells the part you need but only to Aerovee engine owners. You may need to ask a friend to help.
