Have any of you experimented with side vents like the model Bs have?

Thanks for the link but I'm specifically interested in if anyone has done it on a Onex and if it resulted in better cooling.

I, and another Onex builder in Tenn., have added NACA vents to the sides of the lower cowl to introduce outside air behind the engine. When you think about it, the only air flowing behind the baffle is from the cylinders and the oil cooler. I have had two firewall mounted failures. One ignition coil and a voltage regulator and I attributed them both to temp. at the firewall. The only big change was from the one on the left side that blows directly on the ARDAC. It caused my CHT's and EGT's to read 80 to 100 degrees lower. I think the CHT's improved. Becoming more even. I covered the cold junctions at the ARDAC with duct tape and the temps returned to normal. Only time will tell.
