Re: Cross-Country Tool and Supply Kit

We keep one of these in the back of our A model Waiex: https://www.harborfreight.com/solid-nonslip-drawer-liner-65565.html Weighs little. We put it on the windshield when putting in Decalin & fuel. When you get a fuel splash it protects the windscreen. I'd disagree with bringing something to jum...

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

If you sit too long with the secondary ignition, radios, lights, etc all on you will quickly deplete the battery capacity down. Of all those loads, the ignition is the biggest. The radio doesn't draw much when not transmitting. We always turn the secondary off on the ground. We use both ignitions t...

Re: Sonex-A purchase - What to look for

For what it is worth, I've only had real temperature issues once. Heat of the summer, and two-up pattern work. Otherwise I don't worry about ground ops at all.

Re: Tailbeacon on a Waiex

Try #2. This one is not totally by eye. We figured out a good reference as shown. tail fairing square.png Here is the flat pattern for the physical mount. I'll have a couple of 1-leg #8 nutplates installed. The 4 tabs will bend back 90 degrees and rivet to the fiberglass. The long tab will have a wi...

Re: Tailbeacon on a Waiex

I'm laying up cone #2. Q/A didn't like the alignment so I ripped it out and doing it over. I'd take a picture but it looks exactly like the first cone layup picture.

Re: Reinstall gear fairings

Art,
I always have my wheel pants on. Maybe that would keep your fairing off the brakes? Is the fairing tight against the bottom of the airplane? My top pin sticks through the floor and the bottom pin through the wheel pant.
