Ladies and Gentlemen,

Well Sonex owners, builders and soon to be Sonex flyers and wannabees.....Back by popular request the 2020 Midwest Sonex Fly-In is once again hosted at KFYV, Drake Field in Fayetteville, Ar. by Rick "NWA Wingman" Wantz, Sonex 367SX, and myself, Frank "Call the tower" Klimek, Onex 1970T.
The date is Saturday June 6, 2020 starting at 8:00 a.m. and finishing when the last plane departs.
We are based in Fayetteville, Arkansas at Drake Field located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains in northwest Arkansas.
Last year there were 13 Sonex aircraft including one SubSonex from Oklahoma. Kip Laurie from way out east and Jeff Schultz from the KC area.
This year we will be meeting in the main terminal building with Sonex parking in the "keyhole" just north and adjacent to the terminal.
The Arkansas Air Museum and the Military Museum are next door and we are working on a discount for those that want to tour both displays.
Food and drink will be provided for the attendees.
If anyone attending would like to speak about safety, flying or building, it would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. Enjoy the company of so many other like-minded people comparing notes, ideas and trading stories.
All owners, builders, plans holders, wannabees and ALL pilots and planes of any descriptions are welcome to attend.
Hopefully we draw the usual crowd along with other Sonex owners from Oklahoma, Texas ans Mississippi, Missouri and Kansas.
There will be additional information following as time goes on also a rain check date will be set later on, just in case.
Last year we had lots great door prizes donated by many wonderful suppliers of aircraft products including a Prince Propeller from Lonnie Prince.
As time passes there will more information posted here.
Feel free to e-mail me at flylite@cox.net

Hope to see you there.

Gentlemen,
The 2020 Midwest Sonex Fly in is still on for June 6th. Amid the turmoil of covid-19 this could change.
As things progress we will review and assess the situation. Safety is always priority.
Stay tuned for updates.

Sonex Community,

Frank and I spoke this morning and as long as weather and Fayetteville Drake Field manager permits we will be having 2020 Mid West Sonex Fly In as scheduled. We have decided it would be best to make this a outdoor event only. The FBO will be open for those that need to use facilities as needed. Friday night pizza gathering will be postponed till next year. We hope you will make plans to join us and understand if you can't. We will be exercising social distancing practices to the best of our abilities and hope all that attend do as well. The tower has requested that we keep 6 ft separation on arrival. Be safe everyone and looking forward to letting our wonderful Sonex aircraft gather together!

Email Frank flylite@cox.net or Rick rawantz@sbcglobal.net for more information if needed.

We will post if updates are needed.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Looks like the 2020 Midwest Sonex Fly In will be held at Drake Field
on Saturday June 6th. starting at 8:00 am and ending in the early afternoon
when the last person leaves.
This year will be greatly reduced in size and scope due to the virus thing going on. Friday
night pizza gathering will not be held, the FBO will be open for the use of facilities, inside meeting
room has been cancelled and cooking/buffet style food as in the past is not allowed. Rick Wantz and I
will order delivery of some type and we will have cold drinks available. Pop up canopies and chairs will
be available. Masks are highly recommended along with suggested social distancing guidelines.
We had a great turnout last year but it’s looking like this year will be different with the responses we
have received. Please e-mail myself or Rick Wantz if you can so we can kinda get a head count.

I want to thank Frank and Rick for putting on the 2020 fly in one more time. Attendance was down with all that is going on I can understand. We had 3 sonex fly into drake field and a sub sonex owner that brought his better half with him in a bigger plane. Pizza and good times were had by all and we met some new people that drove In. Hopefully we can con them into doing it again next yr. You are missing out on good times with some great people if you don’t go. Thanks again.

Thanks to all those that joined us for the Midwest Sonex Fly-in this year! All thing considered, due to the challenging year we have had, 17 Sonex enthusiasts, 2 ONEX, and 3 Sonex arrived. We all had wonderful day together sharing our Sonex experiences with new builders and folks that are interested in building a new kit.

Thanks everyone for making this years Midwest Sonex Fly-in a success!
